Sauna coming to Royal William Yard, Plymouth
Hálogi – a seaside sauna company – is bringing its wood-fired sauna to Plymouth for the first time, offering a new therapeutic and tranquil escape in the city. Heating up the next bank holiday, the sauna will open its doors on Saturday 4th May, offering FREE sessions* to celebrate its arrival.
Founder of Hálogi, Ross Jackson, is bringing the business to Royal William Yard from its previous home at Berry Head in Brixham. Initially arriving as a mobile sauna, there are also plans in the pipeline to develop a new, permanent sauna building on site.
The sleek and innovative sauna is a cleverly converted horsebox, heated by a Finnish stove that maintains a constant 90°C temperature, and with space for up to six people. A contrast of fire and ice, three cold water tubs offer a rejuvenating ice bath plunge between or after sauna sessions – or users can head straight into the sea for a refreshing dip.
With a Sauna and Wellness Host on hand to greet and guide guests, a covered changing area, and deckchair seating all part of the set-up – this is poised to become a must-try new relaxation experience. Guests can unwind solo, with friends, or as part of communal bookings – each session lasts one hour, with recommended spells of 8-10 minutes in the sauna followed by a 5-minute break, ideally spent in the water or relaxing in a deckchair.
Hálogi will open its sauna doors throughout the week from 9am onwards - and plans to offer late-night sessions to coincide with full moon swims and paddles. The website will list opening times and booking details. You won't be able to miss it; Hálogi will be based opposite The Green, in the space between Bistrot Pierre Rooms and South West SUP at Firestone Arch.
